Annual General Meeting

Monday 17th October 2022

The PHAWA management committee welcomes all members to attend our 2022 AGM.

Time:   5.30pm arrival for 5.45pm start

Venue: element, Level 18, 191 St Georges Terrace, Perth, Whadjuk Country

As you know, this past year has been a difficult one for all with the loss of our President, friend and colleague, Clare Menck. To honour Clare, the management committee decided not to fill the position of President, and Helen Munt stepped into the vacant role of Vice President. As we look to the year ahead, we encourage you to consider nominating for the committee, whether you are a long-standing or new member, or whether you live in Perth or regionally. Your nomination will not only fill the current vacant positions but also contribute new zest, ideas and depth to the committee and to PHAWA as a whole.

A nomination form for the PHAWA management committee has been issued to all members via email. If you would like to nominate, the office bearing roles are:

  • PRESIDENT
  • VICE PRESIDENT
  • SECRETARY
  • TREASURER
  • MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY

If you are unsure about taking on a formal role, you can nominate as a GENERAL MEMBER.

Special Presentation

The AGM will be followed by a presentation on A Thematic History of Western Australia. This significant work was authored by Clare Menck for the Heritage Council of WA. It was a revision of the existing Heritage Themes for Western Australia. Through Clare’s research and consultation, new key stories were identified that thematically capture the many layers of Western Australia’s history. It will guide the work of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage, and Heritage Council, in both heritage assessments and registration, and to the sector more generally in the writing, teaching and interpretation of history. The publication was launched on 5 October by the Minister for Heritage.

The committee extends an invitation to stay on for some light refreshments at the conclusion of proceedings.

RSVP:  by Thursday 13 October to secretary@professionalhistorianswa.org.au
